shakespeare denen insan ’oyun yazarı’ olduğu için bir çok hikaye gibi romeo ve juliet’in hikayesini de kendi yaratmamıştır. kendisinden önce hem italyanca hem de ingilizce yazılan oyunun öyküsünü beğenip, kendisi tekrar yazıya aktarmıştır. bazı insanlar bunun için öykü çalıntı da demektedirler ama shakespeare’in böyle bir kaygısı yoktur, o sadece bir oyun yazarıdır.

irdelendiğinde metaforların güzel işlendiği farkedilebilecek film.

herkesin dilinde dolaşan isimlerdir fakat çoğu klasiğin başına geldiği gibi o da fazla okunmamış, izlenmemiş sadece içeriği dilden dile dolaşıp durmuştur. düşman ailelerden birbirine aşık olan iki gencin acı hikayesi anlatılır ve aile düşmanlıkları eleştirilir. konusuna bugün bakıldığında bu kadar ünlü olması anlaşılmayabilir ama dönemi için çok yeni bir şeydir anlattıkları. zira o dönem avrupası için dini nitelik taşımayan eserler çok yenidir.
