u2, subat 92’de zoo tv projesine basladi. 2 yili askin bir sure boyunca tum dunyayi kapsayan bir turneye ciktilar; konserlerinde muzik kadar gorsellige de agirlik verdiler. sahneyi bir tv sovu gibi duzenliyor, sahne duvarina kliseler yansitiyorlardi. bono, altin rengi, seytani macphisto kostumu icinde sahneye cikiyordu. 93’te ara verip yeni albumleri zooropa’yi kaydettiler. bu albumde numb, stay, lemon gibi parcalar dikkat cekiyordu. zoo tv turunun bir bolumu live from sydney adiyla kaydedilerek bir muzik videosu olarak sunuldu. bu video’da bono’nun lou reed ile video konferans halinde soyledigi sattelite of love da yer aliyordu.

u2 94’de dinlenmeye cekildi. 95’te brian eno, luciano pavarotti ve diger baska muzisyenlerle biraraya gelip passangers adi altinda original soundtracks 1 adli bir album cikardilar. pek basarili olmadi ama miss sarajevo adli single akillarda kaldi. u2 daha sonra batman forever filmi icin hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me adli sarkiyi yapti ve bu basarili bir single oldu.


96 yili yeni bir albumun, pop’un calismalari ile gecti. achtung baby’de olsugu gibi bu albumden cikan ilk single da (discotheque) cevaplardan cok yeni sorular getiriyordu. u2’nun muzikal evrimi bu sefer tekno ve dans etkileri iceriyordu. elestirmenler pop icin "pek u2 gibi degil" dediklerinde, grup "ama biz u2’yuz" diye cevap verdiler. belli ki grup eski basarilarina yaslanmaktansa, bedeli ne olursa olsun her albumlerinde yeni arayislara girmeyi tercih ediyorlardi. 97’de popmart dunya turu basladi ve 2 yila yakin bir sure devam etti.

u2 hep politik bir grup oldu; ucuncu dunya ulkelerine ilgi gosterdi. yakin zamanlarda kosova multecilerine yardim etmek icin duzenlenecek bir konsere katilabileceklerini duyurdular. ucuncu dunya ulkelerindeki aclikla mucadele etmek icin girisimleri de var.

u2 su siralarda brian eno ve lanois ile tekrar bir araya gelerek yeni bir album icin calisiyor. ilk single’in ismi simdiden belli: the ground beneath her feet. sarkinin sozleri, bono ve ayni adli romani yayimlanan salman rusdi tarafindan yazilmis.
